What a great bunch of artists!

This is a great sampler, all the songs are different styles and make for a great listen. I have been playing this sampler for weeks and I'm not sick of it yet. I just wish all the artists had cds available, most of them are only on this compilation when I search on Amazon.
My favorites:
Bricks and Mortar
You Said Hello
80s Babies - british rap!
With This Ship
Persian - Thievery Corporation-esqe
Blue Dream Lover - retro sound

Nice Introduction to 20 Bands

This is a nice compilation. Solid music with 20 different artists. And it accomplishes exactly what I enjoy about these free downloads -- introducing me to artists I wouldn't find otherwise. For example, I really enjoyed the Drawn From Bees track. I'd never heard of them before. And now I own all their albums!
Favorite tracks on this album:
"Long Tooth Setting Sun" by Drawn from Bees
"Sunshine" by Old Man River
"Persian" by Tijuana Cartel |
Solid sampler

| Pretty good sampler of, I guess, Australian pop/rock/indie music. My main complaint with the collection is the overall feeling of sameness, perhaps a function of the Queensland government being involved in the project. I don't imagine they are looking for "edgy"! I particularly liked Trees of Brisbane, With This Ship and Unsolved Mysteries, mostly because they sound more different than the rest of the songs, with nice quirky beats and syncopation. Good stuff, though, and recommended at the price. |

I particularly like Trees of Brisbane by Charles Jenkins. There are some cool tunes here. I think this sampler may very well accomplish it's goal here - of introducing me to some of their artists.
