Menace Within a Classic
|
| Review Date: May 4, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Doug Brunell, A little south of Hell |
It's pretty much proven without a doubt that "The Wall" is a classic that withstands the test of time far better than other albums given the all-too-used label. Within the release you find songs of depression, fright, constraint and nostalgia. What "Run Like Hell" offers is something a little ... different.
"Run Like Hell," which fits in perfectly with the rest of this concept album, gives "The Wall" a serious sense of dread and menace. And it does this better than any other song on the album. Granted, the stuff you hear from this release on the radio nearly every Friday is incredible stuff well worth listening to, but this song doesn't get enough credit for establishing atmosphere and taking the entire album up a notch. One listen to the lyrics and you realize what a bit of horror has been unleashed onto unsuspecting visitors.
"You better run." Hard to find any truer lyrics than that on this release. |
